Boy, is he fun to watch and boy, are Reiser and Hunt smart to have him back. Instantly, he’s the leading contender for this season’s guest-actor comedy Emmy. He’s so energetic and funny and loose and lovable he’s like a rowdy kindergarten kid who can barely be contained. He’s the comic bronco to their rodeo riders, and their job is to stay in the saddle while he rants about hospital beds, childhood taunts and anything else that comes to mind.īut fun as it is to watch the stars of “Mad About You” in their scenes with Brooks, it’s difficult, because Brooks is a high-voltage scene-stealer.

It’s fun to watch Reiser and Hunt in these scenes, because it’s clear Brooks is throwing out certain ad libs just to throw them. Helen Hunt, who plays wife Jamie to Reiser’s hubby Paul, is in the same room, reacting to Brooks’ antics while fighting the urge to crack up. This time, Reiser doesn’t hog the screen time with Brooks. He was such a riot then, and so obviously had such a great time with Reiser, that he’s back tonight in an appearance that starts out in a hospital bed, with Uncle Phil flat on his back, but still sharp as ever. mad about Mad About You Starring: Helen Hunt, Paul Reiser, Tommy Hinkely, Anne Ramsay, Richard Kind and Leila Kenzle.
